Farm House Rental Details and Policies

The open airy gallery at the Farmhouse comfortably seats 50 theater style or 40 at tables and is ideal for either parties or business meetings. Our farmhouse with its extensive gardens and grounds has been described as the most intimate and refreshing "convention center" on the Olympic Peninsula. We rent the entire facility for just $320 for 8 hours or $160 for 4 hours, plus a refundable $200 damage deposit. 

We begin accepting summer party rentals in the middle of March, so If you are interested in using our facilities please contact us.

Holiday Decorations in the farmhouse at the Cutting GardenDuring the month of December, we dress our pretty little farmhouse in her holiday finery for festive parties! Enjoy the cozy fireplace (the stockings are hung by the chimmney with care), 8 foot tall Christmas tree and many other holiday touches.

We're closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

Occupancy Guidelines

May and June, the gardens are lovely, but the weather can be tricky, our maximum indoor event capacity is 50 guests.  During the summer months our maximum indoor/outdoor event capacity is 200 guests.

From October through April, the gardens are sleeping (shhhh) but the Farmhouse is warm and cozy! Again, maximum indoor event capacity is 50 guests.

Equipment/Furnishings Provided

The following items are provided at The Farmhouse for your use and are included in the rental fee (you set up and take down chairs and tables):

    • 24 5' round banquet tables (seat 8)
    • 8 6'X30" rectangular tables (seat 6)
    • 2 Wooden garden benches
    • 1 Garden archway, located at the east entrance to the gardens
    • 1 Garden pergola, located in the south garden
  • Indoor
    • 24 Padded folding chairs (indoors use)
    • 4 30"x 6' rectangular tables
    • 1 Antique Kitchen Queen Oak cabinet
    • 1 Antique oak Icebox
    • 1 Antique oak high back throne (Oddfellow's chair)
    • 1 Antique 40"x 84" (7') dining room table for buffet service or cake
    • 6 Antique Wood and leather chairs
    • 3 Small wooden tables

We provide a floor plan of the farmhouse for planning purposes. Buffet tables may be set up on the porch and groups of dining tables and chairs may be used for seating on the lawns near the gardens.

Exclusive Floral policy

The Cutting Garden is proud to offer Catherine Mix as our exclusive floral provider for your event.  Catherine is an experienced florist with a passion for creating abundant, glorious floral arrangements both from flowers grown on our farm and flowers purchased from the floral wholesale houses in Tacoma and Seattle.  For a reasonable fee, Catherine Mix will design and create uniquely beautiful florals for your event.  Alternately, if you would prefer to arrange the flowers for your event, you may cut flowers from the Cutting Garden or order them from  the wholesale houses through Catherine Mix.

Alcohol

Keg beer is not allowed; home brew is not allowed even in bottles.

A self-serve bar is not allowed.  All alcohol must be served from one location, by a licensed bar tender.   Proof of legal drinking age is required for all who imbibe.

Food must be served with the alcohol.

No alcohol will be consumed anywhere on the property without the proper permits.  If you are not hiring a caterer who is authorized to serve alcohol, you must obtain a banquet permit (you can get them at any Washington State Liquor Store for $10).  Permits must be displayed before the beginning of your event or alcohol will not be served.

“Last call” for alcohol shall be 30 minutes before the end of your event, then the bar must be closed. 

If your guests become noticeably intoxicated, The Cutting Garden reserves the right to close the bar.

Music

Acoustic guitars, flutes, stringed instruments, harps, lightly amplified electronic organs or pianos, and lightly amplified singing are welcome in our gardens.   Reasonably amplified music from CDs is also welcome at the pergola.

Dancing to reasonably amplified music with or without a DJ is allowed both under the tent and inside the farmhouse.   We will help you set a level of sound that works well for your guests and for our neighbors. 

Clean Up

The last hour of your rental is reserved for you to collect your personal belongings and load them in your cars…it is not more party time.  Events that run over time will be charged $250 per hour.

We post catering clean up procedures on the refrigerator in the kitchen.  If you are catering your own affair, please follow these procedures.  We will empty trash cans, stack chairs, put away tables etc.

Children

Well-supervised children are always welcome.  Although we have provided a playhouse for their enjoyment, we do not accept responsibility for the safety of unsupervised children.  Please keep children out of the gardens and pastures.

Children may be upstairs in the farmhouse only when accompanied by a responsible adult.

General Safety

Do not obstruct or impair use of the handrails provided for the safety of your guests.

Llamas and other livestock are for viewing only, do not feed them.  The electric fence is always on!   For your own safety and comfort, please stay out of the pastures and off the fences.
